At 16:30 on August 3, a M6.5 earthquake occurred in Ludian County, Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province (27.1°N, 103.3°E), with a focal depth of 12 kilometers. The station of Huize Company is about 75 km away from the epicenter, and the earthquake was felt strongly here.
When the earthquake occurred, a number of employees working in the Company's office building quickly evacuated upon feeling the shaking, and all the personnel on duty at the station and those in the office building evacuated to the open ground promptly. Zhou Yonggang, General Manager of Huize Company, urgently reported to Du Qin, General Manager of Yunnan Company, while arranging the safety officers to confirm whether all employees have safely gotten out of the buildings.
Mr. Du instructed to immediately start the earthquake emergency rescue plan. The personnel were divided into two groups, one group consisted of General Manager, Deputy General Manager and those on duty to check the gas equipment at the station; and the other group consisted of the Manager of Safety and Technology Department, Manager of Pipeline Network Department and full-time safety officers, etc., taking emergency tools and testing equipment to inspect all medium-pressure pipeline networks, user's pressure regulator boxes and overhead pipes in urban areas; and monitoring the flow and pressure changes of urban pipe networks in real time. As of August 4, no gas leakage or abnormal equipment operation had occurred.
In the coming week, Huize Company will continue to be highly vigilant to avoid any secondary disasters caused by aftershocks and ensure the safe operation of the natural gas transmission and distribution system in Huize County.
